having Syriac as the language of Holy Worship. The language is derived from Aramaic language, which was spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ and His disciples. These days, Syriac is being ignored and is on the verge of extinction! Jacobite believers must surely treasure this language as it is the language of God and the most precious gift which we should be proud of.

Syriac originated from Aramaic language. The word Aramaic comes from the word Aram, the son of Shem (of which the word SHE-MAA-YAA (Semetic) is derived).There are two major dialects, WESTERN (also referred to as Palestinian dialect), the dialect of EE-SHO (Jesus) and EASTERN (also referred to as Syriac dialect).
